Today, I had the privilege to attend Lucia Sarmiento Verano’s webinar “Justice & Liberation in the Therapy Room” and enjoy the space of opening, collaboration, care and incredible insights. It’s interesting because what resonated for me was the idea of our own shadow, something I wrote about last week.

I hope to learn every day to embrace the uncertainty softer and in collaboration with others. It’s a mental space I much prefer over the Euro-patriarchal binary of right and wrong. What in the healing professions is sometimes verbalised as professional confidence, being the expert, “knowing better”, being certain, and interpreting our clients without consulting them at all.

As I move forward, I am also supported by the Elders of the Vunja! Community, I am preparing to share my findings with the Therapy for Social Change Network this week. I will be honest here: for me, this week’s event is the announcement. A promise to myself and my tribes that I aim to work this way. It is also a shoutout to all other practitioners out there who may be looking for pockets and collaborations of those liberatory approaches.

If you can join us this Friday afternoon, or if you want to watch the recording later, please grab your free webinar ticket here.

I look forward to sitting with you and (un)learning from you.
