Tips for a Healthier Relationship with Technology
We often get drawn to our technology nowadays, and it is becoming increasingly common for us to overdo our screen time. It is important to set boundaries for yourself and maintain a structured approach to maintaining digital health. Here are some tips on how:
· Assess your current habits – most devices have a place where you can check your screen time. Assess if this time is too much or not, as well as noticing if you are choosing screen time over other more important daily tasks in your life.
· Set boundaries – set yourself a certain amount of time you are allowed to use screens and force yourself to stick to it. This may vary depending on the person, but find what works for you. Generally, 2-3 hours a day is recommended, but schoolwork and jobs may skew this a bit.
· Use screens for educational things also – as well as using screen time for entertainment, try to incorporate some learning into your screentime. For example, I spend 5-10 minutes a day learning a language on Duolingo.
Overall, just make sure to pay attention to your habits and ensure that you have them under control.
