Welcome to our short guide to counselling preferences. It is important to consider our counselling preferences when accessing therapy, so here are a few things to consider.

Psycho-education stands for the moments in counselling sessions when clients ask for more information about the psychology of their experiences.

A good counsellor should be able to explain to their client the core, up-to-date science of human psychology.

Counsellors are expected to continue educating themselves even after the completion of their core training. However, some clients may find this information overwhelming or experience the practitioner as an expert in the position of power.

Some people may not even be interested in those insights. However you feel about psycho-education during your sessions, you should be able to have an open conversation about this with your prospect or current counsellor.

If you found this helpful and consider counselling, you can book a free initial consultation on our homepage.
