Many will tell you that therapy is beneficial for healing your mental health. However, it is quite rare for people to open up about firsthand experiences within therapy, so that is what I am going to do for you here. These are some of the key benefits that I noticed from going to therapy:

· Therapy is a safe, judgement-free space – Your therapist is always there to help you and, therefore, will do their utmost to make you feel comfortable and that you are able to tell them anything. It is your therapist’s job to make you feel comfortable enough to open up to them before they can help you. Additionally, because you have made a choice to come to therapy, that shows that you are open to receiving help, which means that anything about you will not be judged since your therapist can always support you in healing any behaviours that you no longer want to exhibit.

·      Advice on even the trivial things – as I visited my therapist more, I noticed therapy is another type of relationship, just like friendship and that even the smaller parts of your life are important and there are lessons to be learned in everything. This really helped me as I started to pay more attention to everything and took notice of the good and bad parts of my life and what I can and cannot change. This made me less anxious as I did not feel so pressured to change things out of my control, and I spent more energy on those things that I could control.

· A third-person honest perspective – Talking to my therapist benefited me a lot because it felt as if there was someone I could always trust to be honest with me and guide my thinking into more healthy practices. This means that if I am ever unsure of something, I always know that I can bring it to my therapist, and I will get a truthful perspective.

Overall, I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, no matter how much they are struggling. I highly recommend considering if you, the reader, would benefit from therapy and if you find that you think you would, do not waste any time and get to find it!
